The Best Amazon Movies for Every Kind of College Movie Night

Why a college movie night is essential:

I am 100% a full supporter of a good ol’ college movie night. I’ll tell you why:

  1. They are so inexpensive. Just put on a movie and pop some good ol’ movie style butter popcorn in the microwave and you’re pretty much set for the night.
  2. You need to take time to unwind. College sometimes feels like go, go, go every single minute of every single day. The human body isn’t meant to do that. The human body is meant to relax and take some time to recharge so it can get back to working at full capacity. Don’t feel guilty for taking a movie night off, just enjoy the relaxing time.
  3. You need some “me” time. This might sound a lot like number two and it’s pretty similar. It’s also different in a few ways. Unwinding is taking the time to relax and not go at full speed for once. “Me time” is for taking some time to do whatever you want.

My Movie Picks:

For Girls’ Night In:

Is there anything better than a girls’ movie night in college? I’m going to answer that for you. They are seriously the best nights. Get together with your girls and grab your drink of choice and enjoy a movie together! I found that I did this way more often in my sophomore year than I did in my freshman year but these nights made some of my favorite memories.

Me Before You | The Age of Adaline | The Choice

For Date Night:

When my boyfriend and I started dating in my junior year, we spent almost half our night together watching movies and eating ice cream by the pint. To be completely honest, we still do this and I’m in grad school now!

Here are a few of the movies we’ve enjoyed together. They’ve got a little something for both parties involved.

Hello, My Name is Doris | Spectre |Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

For Binge-Watching:

Ok, let’s talk about binge-watching for a minute. I’ve gone through entire weekends hooked on a certain show. Grimm is definitely my number 1 recommendation, but these other shows are definitely worth checking out! They’ll totally hook ya’ if you’re looking for a new show to binge on!

Grimm | The Man in the High Castle | Downton Abbey | Suits | True Blood

The Classics:

Sometimes, you just need a classic-slapstick-kinda-comedy. Here are three of my favorite classic movies that will give you a laugh when you’re feeling down.

The Out-Of-Towners Tommy Boy

WHY AMAZON PRIME STUDENT WILL BECOME YOUR FAVORITE:

I’ve been using Amazon Prime Student since I started college and if the ability to stream thousands of Prime movies and TV show alone doesn’t convince you to get it, the other benefits will.

First, you can rent and buy textbooks from Amazon and have them shipped to you just in time for class using the free two-day shipping included with your Amazon Prime Student membership.

I’ll say it again, FREE Two-Day shipping is a life-saver. When you realize you need something that they don’t sell on campus and you don’t have a car to go to the store, you can order your items with the click of a button and get them for free in just two days. I can’t even tell you how many purchases I made with my Amazon Prime Student account because I needed something at the last minute. Sometimes, they even got it to me on the same day that I ordered it (which happens in select cities)!

Last, you can order groceries from Amazon, too. You heard me right. Living off ramen? You can order it. How about Kraft Mac n Cheese? You can order that too. I ordered things like bottled water, juices, granola bars, protein powder, and more all off Amazon and got it shipped right to my dorm. Maybe you can even get some popcorn for that movie night you’re planning too!

Hi - my name is Kirsten! I am currently based in Chicago after a long cross-country move from Arizona. What will you find here? I love sharing all things sustainability and slow fashion, any of my day-to-day shenanigans, the latest new hobbies I picked up, and whatever concert or music festival I can find. Welcome and thanks for popping in to my little corner of the world wide web!
