100 Days of Summer: Blue Sky Tag

Hello world! Here I am, coming to you yet again in an update in my life post. I’ve been up to a lot lately – I went to Montana for a wedding, back and forth to California a few times, and I just went on my very first sponsored travel campaign and did my very first ever Instagram takeover. Isn’t that freakin’ exciting?

Anyway, I was nominated by Sophia of The Sophia Diaries for this Blue Sky Award thing. I know it’s not a super important award or anything, but it is nice to know that someone liked my blog enough to nominate me. Plus, it’s just the kind of post that lets you all get to know me.

She asked me 10 questions and I’m supposed to nominate 10 bloggers and ask them 10 questions as well. Well, here goes.

Questions:

What is your guilty pleasure?

Oh my goodness. The Bachelor Franchise. I started watching it about a year or two ago and I cannot be stopped. Seriously, there is something about reality shows that entertains me to no end. Maybe it’s the premise of the show, that someone thinks they can finally find love with 30+ strangers picked out for them by movie producers, or maybe it’s the total exaggerated drama, but I love it.

Who is your blogging role model?

Candidly Chan. Hands down. She was one of my biggest inspirations when I first started taking blogging seriously and she’s one of the nicest and down-to-earth bloggers out there.

Why did you begin blogging?

If we’re being honest, I started because I got bored during finals. When I realized that this was something people did full-time, I put my business skills to work and started working on my brand. A big shout out to Eller College of Management for teaching me what I needed to know.

What’s your favorite past time besides blogging?

Ha. Past-times. I wish I had time for another “hobby.” I take things way to seriously to have hobbies. But in my spare time, I love a good historical fiction novel.

If you had to be another animal, what animal would you want to be?

I would want to be my dog, specifically. She’s got a pretty good life.

What is one fashion or beauty trend you never want to see return?

Blue eyeshadow. That never looked good on anyone.

What is one thing you hate the most in this world?

I prefer not to focus on negatives, but I hate how stuck people are in their own opinions. I think people need to do a better job of talking about their opinions and understanding where other people are coming from. I’d love to see people show more compassion and understanding for other human beings. There’s a lot of hate and discrimination in this world, and I suppose that’s what I hate the most.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?

My favorite social media platform is probably Instagram, but I feel like every blogger says that. I’m just a visual person who likes pretty pictures.

If you were to start your blogging career over, what would you do differently?

I think I would put more emphasis into creating a brand right off the bat. I didn’t think about naming my blog or deciding what I even wanted to blog about until way after I’d actually started my blog.

What three things would you bring to a blogging retreat (assuming laptops, internet, and food/drinks is covered)?

I would bring my DSLR Camera, my Kindle, and business cards. Maybe my photographer (aka my boyfriend) but I’m pretty sure all bloggers know how to take good photos.

Nominations:

Now, to the bloggers I’m about to nominate, don’t feel pressured to do this. But I know I always need a little inspiration once in a while or even just a little pat on the back (think of this like a virtual thumbs-up) that I’m doing doing something right. This is just my way of acknowledging that yes, I do read your blogs, and yes, you’re also doing a great job.

To those reading this post, definitely give these bloggers a look. They’re killing it.

Hi - my name is Kirsten! I am currently based in Chicago after a long cross-country move from Arizona. What will you find here? I love sharing all things sustainability and slow fashion, any of my day-to-day shenanigans, the latest new hobbies I picked up, and whatever concert or music festival I can find. Welcome and thanks for popping in to my little corner of the world wide web!
