Drinks, brunch, dinner, and more: Culinary Dropout

As a huge foodie, I am all over it when a new restaurant opens in Tucson. So, when the community went crazy over the opening of the new Culinary Dropout, I knew I had to try it. In the same weekend I visited TallBoys, I also made a trip to Culinary Dropout. Talk about a foodie’s dream weekend.

Culinary Dropout has definitely become a crowd favorite in Tucson. With two bars and delicious food, it’s not hard to see why. Their location features a covered outdoor patio (where we sat) as well as an inside area. The outside area features ping pong, cornhole, and shuffleboard, so it’s perfect for a group outing. In the evenings, an additional bar opens up too!

I’ve been here a few times, but each time before this was just for a few drinks. This place is really poppin’ at night! It’s definitely a fun place to go with a group if you can get a large table or space at the bar!

This time, I got to enjoy more than just a drink this time. The food absolutely did not disappoint!

For drinking:

I started my day off with the Capital Green off their brunch menu, which has white tequila, cilantro and mint verdita, pineapple, and sparkling wine. If I drink in the mornings, I always have to have bubbles in my drink and this was certainly a unique way to enjoy it.

For starters:

Tanner and I started off our meal with the pretzels – one of their signature appetizers. These little pretzel balls are topped with sea salt and served with melted provolone. Now, you should know that these are very filling, so make sure to save room for the rest of your meal! (But it’s hard not to fill up on these when they are so delicious!)

What I ordered:

I ordered the fried chicken, another one of the signature dishes. It’s served with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and a buttermilk biscuit with honey drizzle. I don’t have fried chicken often and only splurge on meals like this once in a while. It was 100% worth it. This is some of the best fried chicken I’ve had since my mom made hers about ten years ago. The chicken is crispy, which is the only way to have fried chicken, and the seasoning is perfect.

What Tanner ordered:

Tanner ordered what the waiter called the “perfect hangover cure” but it’s on the menu as the Kentucky Hot Brown. It’s a fried egg on top of turkey pastrami, smoked ham, tomato, and texas toast. It’s served with tater tots, so you definitely can’t go wrong.

For dessert:

Even though we were absolutely stuffed, we still managed to get dessert. It was their special of the day: a banana soft serve with chocolate sauce, caramel, and bananas. It was topped with a few other things too and all of it was delicious. It was the perfect way to end the perfect brunch.

If you’re not in Tucson, not to worry; there are a few other locations as well! Culinary Dropout is also located in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe, Austin, and Las Vegas! If you’ve been already, tell me what your favorite dishes are! I can’t wait to go back and try a few more things!
