Well, it was about 10 am here when we got in. My time… well my body is currently functioning like it’s the middle of the night. Getting through the first day is always the struggle.
We ate a light breakfast at the airport where I consumed my first beer in Germany and then took a cab to our hotel. It’s hard for me to comprehend that all the taxis here are Mercedes, a top notch ride if you ask me.
We walked around the city for about an hour, giving us all the opportunity to stretch out our legs after a 5 hour and then 9 hour plane ride.
We were provided with an orientation in the city followed by a buffet dinner. Orientation was in the city center, where there are a few old buildings to look at and a lot of different shops. The town hall has two little areas on the front where statues move like a music box three times a day. Each represent a different historical event. One shows a jousting type tournament at a wedding and the other has dancers that were celebrating the end of a plague.
Dinner wasn’t anything special except that it signified I could finally close my eyes in a real bed after such a long day.
Here’s hoping my jet lag is mostly gone tomorrow! Any tips on how to get rid of it faster? I can barely keep my eyes open!
