What You Definitely Need in Your Fall Capsule Wardrobe

Happy first day of fall! Is anyone else totally ready for fall? I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m pretty sure that fall is every bloggers’ favorite season. We can finally switch from styling up sundresses, shorts, and crop tops, and move into layers upon layers. Layers are fun because there are so many things you can do with them.

Unfortunately (actually, fortunately) for me, I live in Tucson. The weather will be perfect in a month or two but, at the moment, it’s still far too warm for fall weather outfits. Sometimes in the early mornings, I can mange to throw on a loose knit sweater like this one, but it definitely needs to come off by 9 am.

Anyway, now is the perfect time to stock up on fall staples. I picked up a few during the Nordstrom sale and I’ll probably be good for the rest of the season, but if you’re trying to build a fall capsule wardrobe, you’re in the right place.

My Fall Staples:

4-6 Sweaters:

During the Nordstrom sale, I stocked up on 4 of the exact same sweater in different colors. During a collab with Modcloth, I ended up picking out another sweater from the same brand unbeknownst to me! The last sweater I picked up for fall is the one I’m wearing in this post from Maude Boutique. I’m definitely stocked up on sweaters for fall and they’re going to be perfect when the weather starts to cool down. You can throw them on with jeans or leggings – anything really!

2-3 Pairs of Good Denim:

I have a light wash, medium wash, and dark wash pair of jeans that are my go-to jeans in the fall. (Trust me, I have more denim than that.) Switching up the wash of the jeans is the perfect way to switch up a casual look with those sweaters I mentioned.

Booties:

This year, my go-to booties are going to be a black pair of waterproof booties I picked up at the Nordstrom sale. I also got a pair of suede tan mules from Dillard’s at a sale and a pair of chestnut colored Frye booties. Although you definitely don’t need that many pairs, I get about one pair each year that carries me through fall.

Boots:

I only have one pair of tall boots but they’re definitely great to have in my closet. I recommend picking up a pair in a neutral color that matches your wardrobe, so in either tan, brown, or black.

2-3 Jackets or Cardigans:

Lastly, you’re going to need some outerwear for the season! I picked up two moto jackets and a cardigan this year and I’m so excited to break them out. Denim jackets are also a great option with leggings or black denim. You can throw these on over sweaters, tees, tank tops – anything! Dress up the last of your fall outfit with a scarf or beanie and you’re good to go!

So what are your fall staples?
