How to Feel Sexier and Confident in Your Own Skin

Feeling sexy and confident has never been on my strong suits. I’m really hard on myself about everything and it takes real effort sometimes to project the confidence that I do. I’ve gotten better over the years, but everyone has those things about themselves that they sometimes wish they could change. Just a few weeks ago, I wrote a post On Loving My Body Again and it took some real insight into why I look at myself the way I do. I also realized, there are things that I do that make me feel more confident and even, dare I say it, sexy in my own skin.

So, if you’re looking to do a few things that will help you feel sexier in your own skin, I’m here to help with the things that help me the most.

Do Something The Scares You.

Have you ever tried something completely new and just felt like a new person afterward? There’s a rush of confidence that comes with doing something you’ve never done before. Maybe that’s why I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkee. That rush always leaves me feeling excited, confident, and ready to take on another challenge.

Now, you don’t have to jump off a platform or out of a plane to step out of your comfort zone. You can do something a little more mellow and try out a local art class, like pottery or painting, or maybe a new form of exercise, like kickboxing or pole dancing. Who knows? You may even find a hidden talent of yours!

Indulge Yourself.

I personally love the time I spend in my day just relaxing and actually taking care of myself. When I get busier, this is even more important! I’ve stressed the idea of having a morning routine or even an evening routine before, but just taking time out of the day to take care of your body and mental health does wonders for body confidence.

I love taking warm showers after I work out and indulging myself with Tone Skincare. It’s the perfect start to my day! Tone is the perfect mix of frangrance, fashion, and fun – starting my day off with delicious smelling scents that last and keep me feeling confident and sexy the whole day!Now that I’ve been actively taking care of my skin with Tone, my skin has a new healthy and hydrated radiance to it and feels softer than ever. I use the Radiant Glow body wash, which has little glitter flecks in it to give your skin the glow it deserves.

I can’t stress enough how important taking time for yourself is. When you take care of your body, it will take care of you. You end up feeling better and looking better because that feeling translates to a newfound confidence that every girl needs to start off her day.

Wear something luxurious.

After I shower or when I’m just lounging around my house, I have a satin pajama set that feels so good against my skin. When I wear little things like that (or even things as small as actually matching my underwear to my bra) I just feel more put together.

So, instead of putting on a ratty old tee shirt, try putting on a matching pajama set. When you leave the house, maybe dress up just a little more. Just a small change from what your usual daily wear is to something with a little more flair to it will give you an added boost of confidence.

Stop Competing.

I know firsthand how damaging the comparison game can be. It feels especially difficult in college, when you’re in groups or clubs that encourage competition. I’m here to tell you to engage in competition, but not to take the results seriously. Competition can help you grow, but too much will hurt you.

Instead of competing with others, compete with yourself. Try doing better than your old self. Whether you want to beat an old exam score or beat a personal record in a sport you love (sorry, golf always comes to mind when I encourage self-competition) the best competition you have is you. Only you know what your capable of (and sometimes you can even surprise yourself!) but comparing yourself to others with completely different skill sets will get you no where.

Date Yourself.

This might sound different, but go out and do something fun for you! Take yourself to a movie you’ve been wanting to see (and buy that movie snack you want) or go to a local coffee shop and spend time writing or just listening to your thoughts. Take time to do something that either relaxes or recharges you without mind to what anyone else thinks of it. Set goals (both short-term and long-term) for yourself and make plans to achieve them.

Have you ever been on a first date where you ask questions like what the other person wants to do when they grow up? Do the same with yourself. Ask yourself those deep soul-searching questions (think fourth or fifth, maybe not first date questions) and get to know who you are and who you want to be. Once you learn more about yourself and your strengths, you’ll begin to love yourself and see what you can offer the world.

So, do you have any confidence tips? If you do, I’d be so happy to hear them in the comments below!
