Lady in Red

I guess we’re nearing that time of the year when it won’t be socially acceptable to rock a bright cherry red peacoat and over-the-knee boots. I thought this coat was the greatest thing since sliced bread when I bought it (and it still is) but I didn’t realize that this coat is hard to wear outside the month of December without looking like I forgot what month it is.

In a perfect world, I would be able to wear whatever I wanted every single day, but let’s face it, there is a time and place for everything in your wardrobe. Now, I’m all about breaking fashion rules, but this coat screams “Christmas” louder than Buddy the Elf screamed “Santa” when he heard he was coming to the mall. The only other day I may get to pull this off is Valentine’s Day, but I hope to be wearing something a little more flirty and a little less “dashing-through-the-snow.” This perfect peacoat, which I probably should have bought in something more neutral like a camel-color, is from Victoria’s Secret way back when they still sold clothes. I got it on crazy clearance and it was totally worth it. Things got even better when I found the hidden little pockets in the skirted hem. There are few things as great as finding out your new clothing has pockets.

The sweater I’m wearing is one of the favorites that’s been all over my Instagram lately from Maude Boutique. I’ve worn it so often and gotten so many compliments on it. I think this sweater may have sold out, but you can either scour the internet for a style that looks like it (because they are so trendy right now) or you can check out Maude’s other sweaters. Honestly, I have never had a problem finding a cute sweater from this boutique. Well done, Maude.

The jeans are a staple: the Twiggy skinny from James Jeans. Hands down, the most flattering jeans I have ever worn. They have the perfect rise and the pockets definitely make me feel like a subject in a Sir Mix-a-Lot’s song. It’s time to get rid of those jeans that make me feel more like a flat-bottomed-girl than a fat-bottomed-girl, because these jeans are definitely taking their place. Plus, they are so stretchy that I could do the splits in them, you know, if I actually could do the splits.

Now, to stop with all my horrible music references… it’s December 30, which means only one more day left in 2016. It’s been a rough year and I am so glad that I’ve had all you wonderful readers to keep me going on this blog journey. I started taking this blog seriously and posting regularly this summer and my blog has grown accordingly. I am so thankful for all the wonderful readers that have been with me through the name changes, rebrands, and not-as-good photography. You’re all the reason that I keep blogging. It’s been a tough year, but this blog has been my little escape where I can write bad puns and post pretty photos. I have high hopes for 2017 and beyond because this blog has already grown more than I originally thought possible. Thank you for your continued support!

Have a happy new year!

I love the laced shirt under your coats. It’s so chic! I believe socially acceptable is not a problem but the cold weather is definitely a problem!

The Jacket is too cute to be worn only on Christmas and valentines day! I would shamelessly wear it all day everyday 🙂
