Dear Santa (+ a Giveaway)

The focus of today’s Blogmas post is a letter to Santa. I wasn’t exactly sure what to write, seeing as my old letters to santa was just a list written out with a “please” and “thank you” with all my lusted-for items given in order of importance to the big man himself. Yes, I ranked the items, complete with numbers in case Santa didn’t get the hint, in the order in which I wanted them. I wrote it on Christmas scrapbook paper, folded it up, and gave it to my dad, who always promised to fax it to Santa. How cool is that? All the other kids had to mail in their letters, but my dad faxed it. He had a direct line to Mr. Kringle.

This year, I actually struggled to come up with a concrete list of what I wanted. A DSLR camera was pretty much the one thing on my wishlist this year – an investment for my blog. Maybe a plane ticket, if Santa was feeling generous.

Most people don’t actually believe that there’s not much I want for Christmas. I mean, I guess there is plenty of stuff I want. I actually always have a little wishlist going, but half of it is my “in your wildest dreams” list and the other half is stuff I either wait until I don’t want anymore or save up and buy myself. In the wishlist below, the top half is a “keep dreaming” ongoing list for when I make my big break and the bottom half is a little more realistic.

I wasn’t pressuring Santa with all those material and unrealistic wants this year, but you can take a look and see if we have the same taste. *wink wink*

Below the wishlist is my letter to Santa and if y’all are just here for the giveaway, go ahead and skip to the end. You’re going to miss a nice letter, but I understand it’s a busy season and we all have to make choices in how we spend our time. Don’t worry, I’m not offended. It’s pretty personal anyway.

Letter to Santa

Dear Mr. Claus,

Sorry for the formalities, I feel like I don’t know you anymore. Maybe it’s the big bustling of the cities I’ve been living in, or the stress of moving to a different house, or the constant struggle of trying to stay on top of everything as a semi-adult.

I don’t even know what I want for Christmas. I asked for a camera, and that was it. I asked for something to improve the state of my current business, something that could further my career. If I could ask for a funded 401k, IRA, or pension plan, I would probably ask for that too.

I guess this is the first year that I don’t really want anything. I mean, sure there are a lot of things I want, but anything I truly want, I can save up for myself at this point. So what do I really want? I want something you can’t give to me, something you can’t make in a factory.

I want to graduate college; I want to graduate with honors, debt-free and stress free. If you have a stress reliever that works like magic, that would be much appreciated. I want to spend Christmas with all the people I love all in one place. Again, I know this is unrealistic since all the people I love are spread across the country and even across the world.

As for what you can do, please give anything that would go to me and give them to someone more deserving. Give them to someone who does have wants and needs. For Christmas this year, please give that happiness to others. I am happy and my heart is full. Please give to those who are lacking in what I already have. Give them hope to keep going, food on their table, new toys under the tree, and love in all of their hearts.

And please, give my professors whatever they want so that they may grade my final semester in college easier. Also, if there are plane tickets in my stocking, I probably wouldn’t complain.

Yoga helps immensely with stress! I became a teacher because it changed my life. My Christmas wish list is also not very full. I have all I have ever wanted so this year my husband and I are heading to the spa on December 26th.

You can’t go wrong with a good leather jacket and some heels! and hey, if Santa doesn’t bring it all, there are plenty of after Christmas sales to shop! I’m looking forward to Everlane’s name-your-price sale!
