Western Caribbean: Mahogany Bay

The next stop on our Carnival Western Caribbean Cruise was Mahogany Bay. While I was not the biggest fan of this destination, I know some of the people we were traveling with loved it.  Tanner and I did not book an excursion and therefore ended up spending our day here much like the day we spend in Grand Cayman: laying on the beach.

Now, the island was beautiful and after hearing how good the diving and snorkeling were in the area, I would probably go back. When you pull into the dock, it looks like a tropical island, just like the ones you see in photographs. In the port area, there are plenty of sellers if you’re looking for souvenirs and even a group of locals singing and playing the drums to welcome you.

We took a short walk on the nature path, which admittedly was pretty cool. It’s a short path with a lot of different local plants and misters (thank heavens for those). Tanner was willing to take a few quick photos of me (shoutout to blogger boyfriends everywhere) and then we made our way over to the beach. We claimed a cabana and ate Jerk Chicken for lunch. This meal was probably my favorite that I got to try over the duration of the cruise. The chicken was so good! It was a bit overcast, so we didn’t get as much sun this day, but we both cooled off in the water for a few minutes and relaxed in our cabana, reading our books.

Maybe it wasn’t a super exciting day of adventures for us, but it was definitely the relaxing kind of day I needed on my spring break.

My recommendation: book a snorkeling or diving excursion for this stop. That’s what I will be doing when I return.

This lovely princess dress is made by Moon River and sold at the one and only Maude Boutique. You can get it here!

Hi - my name is Kirsten! I am currently based in Chicago after a long cross-country move from Arizona. What will you find here? I love sharing all things sustainability and slow fashion, any of my day-to-day shenanigans, the latest new hobbies I picked up, and whatever concert or music festival I can find. Welcome and thanks for popping in to my little corner of the world wide web!
