I am the very first person to jump at sale season. I’m such a bargain hunter; I know it will be my downfall because I feel like I can’t pass up a good deal. I’ve been getting better at not throwing my card at every sale I pass, but there are a few things coming out lately that make this harder and harder.
Have you heard of Poshmark, thredUP, or Tradesy? All three of them focus on the resale of secondhand clothing direct from sellers like you and me. Let me tell you, people are selling some quality things for half the price.
I’ve used Poshmark the most and I would also say it’s the most widely used. Since it does have so any users, there is a big opportunity to sell and an even larger opportunity to pick up some awesome items for under half the original price. I picked up this white BCBG dress on Poshmark, new with tags and everything, bundled with a beautiful sequin number I wore in Vegas. The scarf came from a sale-on-sale from Madewell, where I was able to score some other awesome basics like tee shirts and a few bandanas.
Lastly, I’ve been debating buying a pair of peep-toe nude booties for the longest time, and when I saw this pair for $20 on thredUP, I finally pulled the trigger. In case you don’t know what thredUP is, it’s a lot like Poshmark or Tradesy; it’s an online retailer that sells secondhand clothes. It’s way easier to navigate than an actual thrift store – I love their online search and filter features – and the clothes are heavily discounted, ever more than Poshmark! They also have additional sales, so the total almost always ends up under $50! (I also bought a pair of Hudson jeans and they fit like a dream!) Shameless plug: if you want to join thredUP and get $10 dollars to spend, just join using my link here!
After buying everything, this outfit cost a whopping $55. The entire outfit. (Ok, minus the watch.) It was over 50% off MSRP with the dress practically a fourth of the price, the shoes almost 80% off, and the scarf at a reasonable $10.
