Let me ask, have you heard about June Gloom? I vaguely remember the phrase being thrown around when I lived in California the first time, but now I get it. It’s chilly, drizzly, and not the California I was dreaming of when I heard the song. But, I’m coming around to it. Near the beach, it’s a little chilly in June, but it really warms up inland. The fog burns off in July, or so I’m told.
But this means that I’m not wearing the shorts and tee shirts that I was planning on and I’m spending a bit more time in jeans and leggings.
I would be lying to you if I didn’t tell you that my absolute go-to outfit is a button up shirt with a pair of skinny jeans. It doesn’t really matter what color the shirt or the jeans are and the shoes may vary, but I wear this outfit to school, I wear it to work, I wear it traveling, and I wear it when I go out. When all else fails, I even wear the same shirt (how sad is that?) and people have definitely pointed it out.
I also just love button down shirts. They’re so easy. Need to dress for the office? Button down shirt. Business casual? Button down shirt. Literally any event ever? A button down shirt is probably appropriate. Now, well-endowed ladies, I get it. It’s so hard to find shirts that don’t gape right there, you know, that one spot that would give everyone a little more than nice view? It’s hard to find a goof fitting button down. My two favorites right now are from H&M, which is a little more casual, and Banana Republic, which is a little more suited for work. I typically find that I have to size up a size, but if it’s cut right, it will still fit like a dream and look flattering.
Now, I’ve written a few things about this before, but I pretty much never buy anything for full price anymore. Why should I when everything is on sale all the time? So I guess I’ll share with you a few secrets: Luck Brand is 50% off during the Black Friday sale and they have awesome sales year round (just be patient), Nordstrom’s semi-annual sales give me life, H&M is always a good deal, Macy’s is my savior for designer handbags on sale, and I didn’t even buy the necklace. The necklace is on loan from Rocksbox, which is a $19/month subscription. That’s way less than if I bought a new piece of jewelry every month! Also, it’s the summer solstice aka the longest day of the year. And Father’s Day! This is a scheduled post because I am spending the day with my own dad today, but make sure to remind yours how great he is!
|I love the blue color of this bag! It reminds me of the ocean.|
