|The top of the steps|
So, I spent this weekend in the bay area and it was so nice to be home! I went into Palo Alto with my brother on Friday and then into San Francisco on Saturday with my whole family. It was so nice to be home and get off campus. Since we always to to downtown SF when we go, I asked my parents if we could do something different. I’d been dying to see the “Stairway to Heaven” on 16th street, so that’s where we went.
We parked near the De Young Museum and Japanese Tea Gardens. From there, it was about a 1.3 mile walk up 19th street and then we crossed over to 16th Avenue. It was all uphill on the way there but the downhill walk on the way back seemed much shorter.
The address of the steps is 1700 16th Ave. if any of you decide to go look for it. It’s by Noriega and Moraga.
From the bottom, the steps seem pretty high and there were definitely a few people catching their breath at the top. The tiled steps don’t get you to the top; there are two more sets of stairs after that. The view from the top is pretty spectacular.

I think it was worth the climb, plus it’s a little hidden gem of SF. But be warned, it get’s pretty windy on top of the hill.
