Inspired by Stranger Things (+ a Black Friday Giveaway!)

I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. Like seriously, we are almost into 2018. Grad school is flashing by in the blink of an eye (which I think is a good thing) and my blog grows and gets better every single day. Some days, I’m a bit conflicted with the blog. I’m always coming up with new ideas and I don’t exactly know how to go about implementing them. All I can ask is that you guys keep voting in my IG and Twitter polls; I take those results very seriously when deciding in what direction to take my blog!

Now onto today’s post:

Tanner and I just finished Stranger Things 2. There won’t be any spoilers here but, damn, I just feel like I need to talk about it.

Anyway, Nancy Wheeler, although not my favorite character, is my 80s style icon. I saw her wearing a fur-lined jacket, so I bought a fur-lined jacket. This is a trend I’ve wanted to hop on for a while and as soon as I saw this jacket (it’s under $70), I pulled the trigger. My other favorite fur-lined jackets were all by Levi’s (and I linked them below) but they were a bit out of my price range. I love how this trend looks over sweaters, especially turtleneck and mock neck sweaters. You can see some of the other ones I was looking at below!

My Favorite Fur-Lined Jackets:

I’m turning into a really basic gal when it comes to choosing my outfits. If I’m not wearing a patterned dress, I’m sticking with jeans and a tee. Sometimes I get fancy and opt for some statement shoes, but usually I stick with my black booties. I’ve also really been drawing inspiration from the 80s and 90s, hence the fact that this look was inspired by Stranger Things.

I may also get rid of my entire jean collection in favor of Levi’s. I bought my first pair of wedgie jeans earlier this year, followed by a pair of altered 501 skinny jeans, and then lastly, this pair of 501 skinnies in a similar wash to my wedgie jeans. These 501s are a little easier to wear with a skinnier leg and finished hem, unlike my wedgie jeans with more of a straight fit and unfinished hem. For those of you looking for sizing reference, I am usually a size 28 and stick with that size for the stretch denim, but I need a size 29 for the 100% cotton denim.

I paired the jeans with an old cropped turtleneck that I used to wear all the time, my favorite black booties, the jacket (of course) and this cute lil’ bag I picked up at Target.
