Sorry all these posts are coming out so late! Traveling through Europe was great, but service and wifi was minimal, especially enough to upload all these beautiful pictures!
On our way into Innsbruck, we stopped in two places: Neuschwanstein Castle and a small town to get something to eat and use the “facilities.” Ground travel is the way to go in Eastern Europe. You can read about it in my last blog post!
Innsbruck was like a place from a fairy tale. It’s positioned right in between two sets of mountains and it’s beautiful, like nothing I’ve ever seen before. My first night there, we went to a venue where we were able to hear real yodeling and traditional songs. It was nothing like I expected. I laughed the whole time with songs based on cows and dances that included setting a small fire on stage. I also had two drinks, which helped to make the experience more enjoyable.
Out hotel was only a short walk from a bunch of restaurants and shops. I really liked that. I took my second day to go on a short train ride up the mountain a bit, where I was taken on a horse drawn buggy through a forest and then taught how to make apple strudel at a family restaurant. Peeling the apples is a little harder than one would think. As an avid baker, this was my favorite part. They even gave me the recipe! Sorry I’m not at liberty to share with you ;P
My final day was spent with my family where we hiked in to the mountains a little and were able to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery. I would definitely make it a point to do more of the hiking if I go back in the future.
