3 Simple and Attractive Ways to Wear a Gingham Skirt

I was so inspired to write this post after I bought an adorable gingham mini skirt from Madewell and realized I only had like one way to wear it. So, I’m here to save you the brainstorming trouble and show you what I came up with on how to wear a gingham skirt this summer.

For the most part, I like to pair gingham with other bold colors, but mainly stick with solids. I did pair this black-and-white beauty with a solid mustard yellow top and it was completely adorable. It also looked just as good with a solid black button down or a light pink tee shirt. The possibilites really are endless.

For date night:

For date night, I am always a fan of black. To be completely honest, so is my boyfriend. There is nothing wrong (and absolutely everything right) with wearing black on each and every date. Just the other night I wore the perfect $10 black maxi dress but more on that later.

This solid black top has been in my closet forever (as in since high school) and for good reason; it goes with everything. I love pairing it with denim skirts and leather skirts and maxi skirts and more… of course, bringing us back to this adorable Madewell Gingham Mini Skirt.

Since the look was rather plain, I added this raffia bucket bag to my look and it brought the whole look together rather nicely, adding that much needed touch of summer.

For your casual weekend event:

Now, it’s pretty easy to pair your gingham skirt witha plain white tank top, so I added a touch of color to the look with these knotted satin slides from Forever 21. The denim jacket was more of an afterthought, but I thought it added some nice texture to the look. Plus, just in case you’re in an area where temperatures drop in the evening, this is the perfect summer night look.

Let me tell you, these shoes are a steal. They were half the price of the Zara version and just as cute. I’ve gotten compliments on them from people already, asking where I bought them. Forever 21 people. They’re so cute. And this cropped denim jacket? A favorite of mine from high school – talk about a classic piece. I’m still wearing it five years after I bought it. Great investment in my opinion.

For a weekday look:

For my day-to-day look, I really saved the best for last here. I paired an embroidered tee with on-trend white booties and, of course, the skirt for a look that’s easy to wear and perfect for summer and fall. I don’t doubt that I will be wearing this look well into the school year.

Plus, just how cute is this tee? I’m so obsessed and can’t wait to get another embroidered script tee soon!

So tell me – how are you going to style the fashion bloggers’ favorite print of the season?

That makes me so happy to hear Katie! I knew I wanted the skirt but I have a rule that I have to think of at least 3 ways to wear before I buy. So glad I did because this skirt is too cute!

I agree! It’s versatile once you think of a few more ways to wear it! This skirt is on the short side for work, but I’d totally rock a gingham skirt to work! And thanks – Forever 21 for under $20!

Thank you and I agree! Sometimes you need to see it on the model to really show you how cute it can be! (Also, the second look is my favorite too!)
