Trend to Try: Two-Tone Denim

I wanted to try this trend forever. And by forever, I mean ever since I saw the cutest pair of two tone jeans on Madewell’s site. Alas, the jeans were out of my budget and too trendy for me to justify the price. So, I did what every sane girl would do and I began a quest of my own for the perfect pair of two-tone jeans.

So, the real question… Can a girl with a body that doesn’t look like the model pull off this trend? I’m a totally average lookimg size 6 and I’ve got to say “yeah, we totally can.”

Although I came up short a lot of times, I finally pulled the trigger with these beauties from American Eagle. Even though I had to size up by two sizes (I went from a 6 to a 10) it was totally worth it. These jeans only cost me $20! They have the perfect high waisted fit, although they definitely don’t fit my legs like they fit the models. They fit more like a high waisted boyfriend jean that is looser through the calves.

Last time I checked, these jeans were in stock in sizes 8 and up. So, think in terms of two sizes smaller like I said earlier – they fit tight!. However, if they’re out of stock in your size, I rounded up a few of my other two-tone favorites!

Now, as far as when to wear this trend… I’ve gotta say I think it’s pretty versatile. I wore this look to class and it blended in just fine, even among a sea of sorority tees and Lululemon leggings. I did struggle with picking out a pair of shoes, but I think I did an okay job at it.

Since these jeans are high waisted, I figured it was the perfect time to break out my all-time favorite crop top from Everlane. Seriously, I wear this simple crop top with everything – I’m about to buy it in the other colors I wear it so often! It’s super flattering with the high waist jeans and looks good with a variety of different shoes! (I also wore this outfit with a pair of yellow knotted satin slides for a more summery look.)

So if you’re wanting to try out this look for fall, I’ve gotta say, hop on it now, while the sales are still hot.
