|House of the Von Trapp Family in the Sound of Music movie|
Any Sound of Music fans out there? How about Julie Andrews fans? *raises hand with a little too much excitement*
Well, I was lucky enough to visit Salzburg, where the movie takes place. I saw the house(s) used in the making of the movie, as well as the lake they fell in, the gazebo, and the church where the wedding takes place. I feel as though it is all pretty explanatory, especially if you’ve seen the movie. Interested? Check out the Sound of Music Trafalgar tour. Highly recommend.
Before I made it to Salzburg, we stopped at the Eagle’s Nest. It was originally built for Hitler, ironic since he didn’t like heights. The view was amazing. It’s cold at the top (you were warned) but I think it’s worth it. Even just imagining the way the place was built is amazing.
Salzburg was my parents’ favorite place and it was pretty close to being mine as well (actually not sure if I even have a favorite). Not only did it have everything from the loved Julie Andrews musical, but it’s also the birthplace of Mozart! The violinist in me was so excited to see the big statue and one of his violins.
This city was so relaxed and I needed that during such a fast paced trip. But be careful of the wasps in summer!
